Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner
In the Community-based Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner (CWHCNP) Education Program, students complete an on-line course of study with either a fulltime or part time option The classroom is the community in which the student lives. During the clinical practicum, CWHCNP students work closely with women's health care nurse practitioners, nurse-midwives, family nurse practitioners, and other primary care providers in their community.
The CWHCNP curriculum has a strong academic and clinical basis. In addition, the CWHCNP curriculum is unique in providing a strong foundation in understanding the business of women's health care. This includes assessing a community to discover the primary care needs, learning how to develop a plan for having a fiscally viable practice, and working within the license and insurance regulations of the student's state. The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree and a post-master's certificate are offered in the women's health care nurse practitioner specialty track. Also, nurse practitioners with a MSN can also complete the DNP with a specialization in women's health.
