FNU Reception

FNU hosts a reception each year during AANP. This year's reception was Friday, the 12th from 6-8pm. There were around 50 attendees at this year's reception that included faculty, students, alumni and preceptors. We were also excited to see a couple of prospective students that showed up to learn more about Frontier. Dr. Julie Marfell, Dean of Nursing, led the meeting where Frontier paid special tribute to all FNU preceptors, by recognizing them with a gift during the reception.

PRIDE Student Essay Winners

Two students in FNU's PRIDE program, which focuses on increasing diversity in nursing and midwifery education, attended the AANP National Conference. The PRIDE program sponsored the essay contest and awarded Sara Bush, FNP from North Carolina and Homecia (Mecia) St. Clair, CNM from South Carolina for their essays. PRIDE sponsored the winning students by covering their conference expenses. These PRIDE ambassadors participated in an expansive schedule of clinical activities and sessions held at the conference, attended the FNU reception, and assisted at the FNU exhibit booth. The PRIDE ambassadors will submit video diaries of their experience, so stay tuned for the videos that will be posted on the PRIDE website. FNU Exhibit Booth

The FNU exhibit booth was very busy during the three days of exhibiting at the show! Thousands of nurse practitioners visited the exhibit hall and FNU received around 110 qualified leads for the post-master's DNP program as well as post-master's certificate programs. We also had around 55 people sign up to receive more information about being a preceptor. This was our first conference to show off our new promotional products and they were a success! We were the only exhibitor that brought beads with our logo, so FNU definitely stood out. We also had a giveaway for a "Nurse Survival Kit" that included most of our promotional products that Marie S. got to take home.

Our "Nurse Survival Kit" winner, Marie S.

On Friday, we were lucky enough to have Dr. Scharmaine Lawson Baker hold a book signing at our booth from 11-12 for her children's book, "Nola the Nurse". Dr. Scharmaine Baker is a nationally recognized and award-winning nurse practitioner in New Orleans, LA. She is a fellow AANP member and winner of the 2013 Healthcare Hero award (New Orleans City Business Magazine) and 2008 Entrepreneur of the year award (ADVANCE for Nurse Practitioner Magazine). We were lucky enough to steal her for a couple of hours on her birthday to sign her books!

Thank you for your continued work and support to help make this year's conference a success. We can't wait to see everyone again at next year's National Conference in San Antonio, TX!
