Chappell Named as Associate Dean of Family Nursing at Frontier Nursing University
HYDEN, KY – Frontier Nursing University (FNU) is pleased to announce that Dr. Lisa Chappell, PhD, RN, FNP-BC, has been named as the Associate Dean of Family Nursing. Dr. Chappell has served as an FNU Course Faculty, Course Coordinator and Clinical Bound Team Leader for five years.
Dr. Chappell has been a certified family nurse practitioner for eighteen years and a nurse for 38 years. She also has sixteen years of teaching experience. Dr. Chappell’s teaching and administrative experience combined with her drive for excellence certainly positions her for serving in the role of Associate Dean for FNU’s family nursing program. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama in Birmingham where she received both her family nurse practitioner and maternal infant clinical nurse specialist certifications. She also earned her Doctor of Philosophy in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Chappell is actively involved in FNU faculty committees as well as a variety of professional nursing organizations, and she has received many honors and served as a leader in several professional associations.
As Associate Dean of Family Nursing, Dr. Chappell will ensure that FNU’s family nursing program continues to successfully attract the most motivated and mission-driven nurses. This program prepares registered nurses to become certified family nurse practitioners through distance education. FNU Dean of Nursing Dr. Julie Marfell states, “With the strong nationwide interest in family nursing as a profession and with FNU’s continual growth, we are at a pivotal point to ensure that we have the best of the best to lead this program. Dr. Chappell has excelled during her time at FNU and I am very excited she has taken on this role.”
